The location is very peaceful in the middle of the beautiful Ribeira Sacra region with fields, meadows, oak and chestnut woods. There are only a few neighbours in the surrounding area and at 5 km you will find the village of Escairon with all necessary services and amenities (5 minutes by car). At 18 km is a Spa Hotel with a quality 18-hole golf course. The historic city of Monforte de Lemos is located at approx. 20 minutes by car (19 km). This lively town offers all necessary amenities at less than 2 km, such as a hospital, hypermarkets, all kind of shops, banks, schools, bars and restaurants, etc. During the Middle Ages, the town became an important centre in Galicia. You can still find many interesting historical monuments in the old quarter. Worth to visit are for example the huge 17th century building of Nuestra Señora de Antigua (well known as El Colegio del Cardenal, with some very interesting paintings of El Greco in the museum), the monastery of San Vicente do Pino and the medieval castle and palace of the counts of Lemos (today a “Parador” complex, a by the state owned Hotel), the old Jewish quarter with medieval walls and towers, the convent of “Las Clarisas” with a very important museum of sacred art and the medieval bridge over the river Cabe.
