This is a traditional stone-built house located in a small hamlet at 2 km from the stunning canyon of the river Sil. The rustic house is situated in a plot of land and includes a barn and a shed. Amenities and services are in the village of Sober, at 8 km from the property.

The house itself is fully stone-built on two floors and is a clear example of traditional Galician architecture. The thick stone walls are in good state of repair and the flooring on the first floor is partially chestnut and partially pinewood. The structure of the roof is also in good condition with solid chestnut beams and is mainly in need of new tiles and insulation. The ground floor comprises a good wine cellar with wooden barrels and two stables for the animals. On the first floor you can find an open space which will make a new distribution much easier. Undoubtedly this is a house with lots of character and an affordable renovation project.

The location is in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra region, at just 2 km from the stunning Canyon of the Sil. Along the banks of this river you can find typical terraced vineyards, producing Galicia’s best wines. Ribeira Sacra, which means “sacred riverbanks, derived from the many churches and monasteries on these river banks, founded by religious orders in the middle ages. All necessary amenities and services are in the main village of Sober, at 8 km from the house. The historical town of Monforte de Lemos is located at 14 Km. (20 minutes by car). This lively town offers all necessary amenities and services, such as a hospital, hypermarkets, all kind of local shops, banks, schools, bars and restaurants, etc.
During the middle Ages, Monforte de Lemos became an important town in Galicia. Here you can still find many interesting historical monuments. Worth to visit are for example the huge 17^th century building of Nuestra Señora de Antigua (well known as El Cardenal, with some paintings of El Greco in a museum), the monastery of San Vicente do Pino and the medieval castle and palace of the counts of Lemos (today a “Parador”, by the state owned Hotel), the old Jewish quarter, the convent of “Las Clarisas” with an important museum of sacred art and the lovely medieval bridge over the river Cabe.
